kEARA SWEENEY

Hi, my name is Keara Sweeney! I grew up in a small town in Pennsylvania, dancing since the age of 2 years old! I trained at the Abby Lee Dance Company in Pittsburgh, competing in multiple dance conventions, where I eventually realized just how obsessed I was with musical theater! I distinctly remember at 11 years old, our whole studio took a trip to NYC to support a recent alumni in their broadway debut, Newsies! This being my first introduction to musical theatre, I was sold. As soon as Act 1 ended, I turned to my mom and said "this is exactly what I want to do!" and we got to work! I continued throughout the years practicing and honing in on my skills of contemporary, tap, ballet, jazz, hip hop, acrobatics, lyrical (one of my personal favs), and of course theatre dance. I participated in Joffery's Musical Theatre and Jazz Program every summer and decided NYC was the place for me, so at 17 years old I decided to move from my small town to New York City! I started my first year at The Institute for American Musical Theatre or IAMT, all the while finishing my senior year of high school online. I am a proud alumni, who graduated in the class of 2020, and from there decided to take part in Broadway Dance Center's Independent Training Program in 2021! Recently, I just got back from touring with 'Elf The Musical' in the ensemble this holiday season! When I am not on contract, I am right back in the city dancing, auditioning and still pursuing 11 year old me's dream!

Aside from performing, I like to keep things simple! I love to spend time with my friends and family, I am a huge animal lover, and embrace finding the joy in what each new day brings. I believe in everything happens for a reason, to always keep your head up and trust that good things are always around the corner! I am excited to continue my journey to grow, learn, laugh and of course, dance!
